Description
Ever since proud patriots declared their independence from the British Crown, Americans have had to fight to remain free. And, over the course of America's history when the call to defend freedom was raised, men and women of all racial and ethnic backgrounds -- but Americans every one -- have eagerly come to their country's service. Today, there are well over twenty-two million veterans living in the United States. These proud defenders of our nation's freedom represent a host of backgrounds, and many are of Hispanic origin. In World War I and II ... in the Korean War and Vietnam, even as long ago as the Civil War, Americans of Hispanic ancestry have come to their country's aid in the hour of crisis. Indeed, it is important for Americans to remember that the defense of freedom is the responsibility of every American, regardless of race, color or creed. Throughout America's history, this burden has been borne equally by all. This artwork recalls the service of Hispanic Veterans in the defense of America's freedom. Indeed, when American servicemen take up arms to defend their country, the Hispanic soldier proudly joins the ranks.
