The first Opium War (1840-1842) resulted in the Treaty of Nanjing which ceded Hong Kong Island to Great Britain. After the end of the Second Opium War in 1860, Britain forced the Ching Dynasty to accept the Convention of Beijing and the Tseenshatsuy of Kowloon was ceded to Britain.
