Artist's Description

Born and raised in a small log cabin in South Carolina, Andrew Jackson deeply loved his homeland and was willing to defend it with his life. When British troops invaded the Southern Colonies in 1780, Jackson was quick to join the ranks of his state's militia -- although he was only 13 years of age. Throughout the Revolutionary War, he fought bravely whenever the opportunity arose. However, his real military genius became evident later in life during the bloody War of 1812. Throughout this war, Jackson proved to be an incredible military leader. In fact, it was during this time that he won his two most remarkable military victories.The first occurred on March 27, 1814. Jackson led his troops into a fierce battle with a huge tribe of Creek Indians who had been savagely attacking settlers. When the battle was over, the tribe was nearly wiped out. Jackson then quickly made peace with the rest of the tribe. Jackson's second outstanding victory occurred in New Orleans on January 8, 1815. On...
