A collection of paintings by famed Chinese artist Liu Jiyou, which were originally commissioned to appear on postage stamps and philatelic commemoratives. Born in Tianjin, China, Liu Jiyou (1918-1983) was inspired by his father, Liu Kuiling, a famous animal and floral painter. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tianjin, where he learned the finer points of traditional Chinese painting as well as Western painting—later combining these two styles in his work. His artwork "Wu Song Beating the Tiger" won the Bronze Award of the Sixth World Young Artists Competition.
