Description
After years of struggle, America and her French ally saw their dream of American freedom come true on September 3, 1783. For on that day, the Treaty of Paris was signed, ending the American Revolution. This important document marked the first diplomatic victory of the United States and the emergence of a new nation. American peace negotiator Benjamin Franklin called the treaty a commitment to the work of peace, and a great triumph. In addition to ending the revolutionary War, the treaty expanded America's borders and granted certain important rights to the American people.
