Description
The Red Deer (Cervus elaphus) has a sharp sense of hearing and smell, and it inhabits the mountain forests of Europe, Asia and northern Africa. The animal's food, for which it forages at dawn and dusk, basically consists of grasses and leaves. The deer is a solitary animal, but joins others of its kind during the annual fall mating season, to form a herd. The males grow antlers that they rub against tree trunks to remove the velvet with which they are covered.
