As a land-based medium patrol bomber, the PV-1 Ventura rendered valuable service during World War II. Based at naval air stations in coastal areas, Venturas located, attacked and destroyed six German U-boats prowling the eastern Atlantic.
This painting was originally commissioned to illustrate the Republic of the Marshall Islands 32¢ PV-1 Ventura stamp issued August 28, 1998.
