Description
The Curtiss No. 1, also known as the Curtiss Golden Flyer or the Curtiss Gold Bug, was an early experimental aircraft designed and built by Glenn Curtiss. Curtiss planned to fly it in the first international air show to be held at Reims in France in 1909. After it was badly damaged, Curtiss instead built a new aircraft, known as the Curtiss Reims Racer, for the competition.
