The most successful flying-boat ever built, the Consolidated PBY-5 Catalina saw action in every U.S. Navy World War II campaign in the Pacific. This versatile aircraft played a vital role in the Atlantic as well, where it was instrumental in ridding the seas of dreaded German U-boats.

This painting was originally published on the Republic of the Marshall Islands 32¢ PBY-5 Catalina stamp issued August 28, 1998.
