The world's first twin-engine wide-body airliner, the Airbus A300 usually seats almost 250 passengers and boasts a range of more than 4,000 miles. In 1970, Airbus was created as a collaborative European aircraft manufacturer to develop and produce this iconic commercial airplane. The prototype of the A300 first flew in 1972.
