A collection of paintings by noted Chinese artist Zhan Jianjun, which were originally commissioned to appear on postage stamps and philatelic commemoratives. Zhan Jianjun was born in 1931 in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, in China, and graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, of which he became an associate professor. Long involved in art education, he specialized in oil painting with an emphasis on thematic painting and landscapes. Zhan's works include "Five Heroes on Lang Ya Shan Mountain", part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Chinese History, and "Song of Plateau", displayed at the Museum of Chinese Art. He served as Director of the Association of Chinese Artists.
