A collection of paintings by famed Chinese artist Wu Zuoren, which were originally commissioned to appear on postage stamps and philatelic commemoratives. Renowned for his depictions of natural scenery and animals, Wu Zuoren (1908-1997) was born in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, in China. He started his studies at the Department of Fine Arts at Shanghai University in 1927. The prominent Chinese painter Xu Behong recommended him for studies in Europe, where Wu studied painting in Paris, and in 1935 graduated from Belgium's Royal Institute of Fine Arts, honored with Laureate Student.
